How do you know you have a ingrown toenail
Answer:
they are sometimes painful and annoying and are at the corner of your toe if it is severe the doctor needs to take it out or you can try soaking your affected foot in a solution of soapy warm water and try to just nip the corner or put a piece of tissue small under the nail so nail grows out also when cuttin your nails cut straight across and to prevent ingrown
toe nail cut v in the middle of the nail. also hope you are not
a diabetic then you need a specialist to deal with your nails.
Pliers
If you can't remove it fairly easily yourself, you need to go see a Podiatrist. Do this especially if it's recurring. They can perform a procedure whereby they remove the entire side of your nail. I've had it done, it's brilliant no more pain or worries.
So give a Podiatrist a call, there should be plenty in your telephone directory.
talk to your doctor if you're not sure. They can tell you whether it is an ingrown toenail and can take care of it for you.
If it doesnt hurt, it probably isnt though.
doctor or you will get an infection and even more painful
you have to cut down to the root, far enough so that the grove it was digging into can heal before it grows back into it. In reality though, you probably have to have surgery, but the good news is its almost universally covered because its not elective, and it takes about a half an hour.
I have this problem, at first i went in, they removed them in the office, they give you three shots, one on each side of the toe (mine were my big toe, maybe less for smaller toes) and they burn, and then they go in with instruments and clip it at the nail bed. After that they take a chemical and rub it into the nail bed to kill it, preventing the toe nails from growing back.
unfortunately this can fail, especially if your a good healer, so i'm told, which happened to me, so i guess the doctor was shooting smoke up my bum, but in that case, there is actual surgery, where they cut open your toes and remove the nail bed, completely, so there is nothing to grow back. This hurts and it leaves your feet incapacitated for a few days with minor to moderate pain for about a week, then you have special shoes to remove weight from the foot, all in all its not very fun.
If you want though, there are several in home remedies, like soaking them they prying the nail out yourself, dreadfully painful though. Didn't work for me though.
