How much schooling do you need to become a nurse?
Answer:
In the UK you need 2 A levels or equivalent, and then it's a 3 year stretch at uni for the degree/diploma course
4 yrs at a university and 2 yrs of nursing school just to become a regular nurse. but specialty nurses have to go about a yr or two more.
Not really, my mother and all 4 of my aunts are RN's (registered nurses) and they didnt go to a Universtity for 4 years what you should do is go to a college that has a nursing program its very very hard but it only last about a year and a half but like I said its hard and stressful but just take it one day at a time and at the end of the program you have to take a test and if you pass it you will get your Nurse papers indicated that you are a certified registered nurse
Two year associates degree for an RN...you could also purse a BSN, MSN or even a PhD in nursing...depending on how far you wish to advance in your career and what you want to do with it.
Nursing professions are one of many careers available in the medical and health industries. Among the variety of nursing professions are nurse assistants, nurse practitioners, family nurse practitioners, or registered nurses. Registered nursing is the largest field in nursing. Usually, nurses assist physicians, manage nursing care plans, and most importantly, help treat patients.
All states require formal training and certification. The length of the program depends on the type of program a student chooses. This formal training may be acquired from an adult education program, college, or university.
1. A bachelor of science degree in nursing (BSN). Bachelor of science degree in nursing programs typically take 4 years to complete. In 2002, there were 678 nursing schools in the United States that offered BSN degrees. There are also more than 110 accelerated BSN programs for individuals who already have a bachelor's or higher degree in another field. These programs typically last 12 to 18 months.
2. An associate degree in nursing (ADN). Associate degree in nursing programs, which are typically offered by community and junior colleges, take about 2 to 3 years to complete. In 2002, there were about 700 such programs in the United States.
3. A diploma. Diploma programs are offered in hospitals and typically last about 3 years. There are only a small and declining number of such programs.
Advancement opportunities are typically broader for graduates of BSN programs. Many positions, such as nursing management positions, require a bachelor of science degree in nursing. There are RN-to-BSN programs allowing practicing RNs to complete a bachelor of science degree in nursing program while they are already working in the field. Taking such a route to a bachelor of science degree in nursing may allow an individual to take advantage of employer education reimbursement programs.
Good luck and if you decide to become one you'll be call a hero.
